About Sandra

Portrait of Sandra Armenta smiling at the camera while wearing a burgundy blazer over a black top, standing outdoors with a softly blurred background of green trees.

Mayor Sandra Armenta is a longtime advocate, former special ed teacher, and proud Rosemeadian with deep roots in our community and a lifelong commitment to improving the city she loves and the neighborhoods where she was raised.

She has a long history with Rosemead, coming to the city at a young age — the daughter of immigrant parents — and playing youth softball, basketball, and volleyball for city rec leagues and performing across Southern California with her Junior High Flag Team. Attending all local public schools, including Savannah Elementary, Muscatel Middle School, and Rosemead High School, she began her public service early, volunteering in high school, and helping Rosemead Rebels Junior All American Football Team

After graduating college and receiving a masters degree and teaching credential from the University of La Verne, Sandra began a 21 year career as special education and general education public school teacher where she fought every day on behalf of her students and their families. It was this passion that led her to run for city council.

Since her first election Sandra has been a fearless champion for Rosemead. During her tenure the city has become safer, the skate park, dog park, community gardens, and aquatic center have all been constructed, and new eateries and businesses have come to Rosemead. She was instrumental in forming Rosemead’s Public Safety CONNECTIONS forum and beautification committee that has worked to engage youth and make the city a better place to live, work, and shop, encouraging civic pride from residents and increasing property values.

Sandra lives in Rosemead with her family and beloved ‘first dog of Rosemead,’ Dulce. She still fights for Rosemead's kids, and works in the office of a state senator.
